DON'T Let Them Eat Cake
Damien Fleming use to be an A-grade student who excelled in most areas of life. As he grew older however, so did his waistline, and soon he ballooned out to a whopping 83 kilos at just the age of nine. He became the focus of schoolyard torment which led him to clinical depression and isolation from the school and friends he once loved. His life was thrown into turmoil by the lethal combination of overeating and eating too much fast food too often, a severe lack of exercise, and the ever popular television and video games.
The fact of the matter is that Damien is not alone, many more kids are in his position. In fact 25% of Australian boys and girls are overweight, the highest number in Australia's history, and we only trail the United States as the fattest nation in the world.
"I had no control, I had to eat all the time. The more I ate the more I got teased by kids at school, and when they teased me they made me very upset and cry."
